With a BUS code of 7777, you are eligible to be in a bargaining unit (bargaining unit employees are represented by a Union and protected by the Master Agreement) but currently are not part of a bargaining unit or represented by a Union.  In order to become part of a bargaining unit, there needs to be an election. Elections are run by the FLRA, after a petition for an election is filed by AFGE National. In order to get AFGE National to file a petition, they want 50% of the folks coded 7777 to sign statement of interest cards, which I have attached below. A wet signature is required, so please print this out, sign it, and mail it back to me at:

MB Viccellio
PO Box 2082
Winchester, VA 22604

When you fill out the form, please include your personal (not va.gov) email address.  Also, when it asks for your agency, please fill out your program office and not just “VA.”

You can also become a dues paying member by using e-dues even though you are not a part of the bargaining unit. While this will not make the master agreement applicable to you, there are many other benefits to membership, such as voting on issues before the union (like arbitrations and budget), invitations to exclusive members-only events in the DC area, and our holiday party, just to name a few. You would also have access to Membership benefits from AFGE National, which you can look at here

Please let me know if you have any questions, and please feel free to pass this email on to other folks in your office who are 7777.  A reminder to stay off government equipment and not on duty time.
