We are honored to welcome Jenny Pratt, an AFGE attorney specializing in EEO complaints, who will be joining us to share her expertise and insights on obtaining reasonable accommodations for disabilities, including telework as a reasonable accommodation.

Ms. Pratt is a valued member of AFGE’s Women and Fair Practices Department (WFP). Under the leadership of National Vice President Jeremy Lannan, the WFP team collaborates with AFGE’s extensive Human Rights Network to combat discrimination in both federal and D.C. government sectors. Their mission extends to promoting workplace diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within AFGE, while continually advancing a coalition of union leaders and activists committed to fostering a fairer workplace, union, and world.

Case Studies on Telework as a Reasonable Accommodation at AFGE Local 17

Through AFGE Local 17’s dedicated efforts, numerous employees have received assistance in navigating the reasonable accommodation process. Recently, Local 17 steward Steve Eckerman convinced an arbitrator to award full-time telework as a reasonable accommodation to a Local 17 member, following the arbitrator’s determination of disability discrimination by a senior VHA official.
